Constanta is the oldest city in Romania. It's an important town and a cultural, economic and social centre of reference. At 1st January it had a total population of 303,700 inhabitants Metropolitan zone of Constanta is the second largest in Romania as a number of inhabitants, after Bucharest, with an approximately number of 550 000 inhabitants. Is the largest sea harbor on the seashore of Black Sea and the fourth from Europe with perspectives to become the second largest, after Rotterdam Constanta is the main city from Constanta county, the largest city of Dobrogea Region and from development South-East Region. Constanta is the second economy of the country, the city having the services, commerce, construction field and the transportation system very advanced. Also, in Constanta, the most firms from Romania are established. Harbor of Constanta: The cargo traffic doubles each year. In Constanta Harbor is also Constanta Shipyard. Although the main power of Constanta is from the small companies from services, commerce and transportation, the economy structure of the city is like from the big cities from EU, we can lists some of the big companies which are in the city such as: Celco SA, Dobrogea SA, Argus SA, SOCEP SA, Oil Terminal SA, Convex SA, Dubai Ports World, RAJA SA, Congaz SA or Chimpex SA. |
